Let's start off with something really fundamental, what difference does all this make? What can Superboss leadership do for you, for your colleagues and for your organization and you know what turns out, there's a lot and there's a lot that's come out of the work that we've done both in terms of research and then a lot of workshops and activities with companies. So the payoff for anyone who wants to make a difference at work, well, it's an opportunity to help other people get better to build your personal legacy. And I think that's something that maybe more and more of us, even when we're younger and earlier in our lives, think about there's a lot of fulfillment needless to say, right to know that you've made a difference in other people's lives and you're creating meaning at work. You're creating meaning for yourself and for others. There's a big payoff just on a very personal level for each of us, there's also a pretty significant payoff for companies and leaders of those companies. You end up with better teams and we'll talk about that throughout the module and better teams lead to higher performance, needless to say, right, you're going to get stronger employee engagement. I mean employee engagement scores are so low and so many companies and it's a real, it's a scandal really. And super boss leadership and some of the ideas I'm going to share, they're going to help, they're going to help hopefully a lot, you're going to build bench strength, you're going to make succession planning more more robust, more effective talent retention as well. And it's probably going to lead to less costly, yet even more effective recruiting. So, those are some big things I just mentioned, even if it didn't lead to all of them, if it led to only one of them, it'd probably be good enough. But I think based on the research and the work that we've done, there's potential to lead to all of these benefits. So what is our super boss agenda if you will? Well, okay, if you're early in your career, I mean even later, but if you're early in your career and you have high aspirations for what you want to accomplish in your career and your life, what do you want to do? You want to find your own super boss? Right? And all the times that I've given lectures to different groups when I have younger people are millennials and gen Z and the audience, they're like jumping up and down. And the number one thing they want to know is what, how am I going to find one of these Superboss leaders for myself and we'll talk about that throughout. If you're a supervisor or manager or even an executive leader of any team, you want to adopt the Superboss Playbook to be more successful to make work more engaging and to have an even more positive impact on others. And the Superboss Playbook again, as my word to describe all of the different tools and techniques and ideas that I'm going to share with you throughout this entire course this module and the ones to follow. So you want to start finding Superbosses that you have in your midst. You want to find them. You want to know who they are, they could be under your nose and probably they should have been recognized already for the work that they've done, but they definitely should be. And you want to learn from them. You want them to become your teachers and your trainers and your role models. You want to reward these Superbosses because you want to encourage other people to emulate and to do what they do. Think about this for a minute. If you have these leaders that have this kind of upside potential and you don't even know they exist and therefore you're not leveraging, capitalizing or honoring that work and benefiting from network, it's kind of crazy, right? You wouldn't want to do that with any other important asset in your organization, but that's what people seem to do because we're not as alert. Most companies, most people are not as alert to what we should look for. Again, that's what we're going to talk about and you'll have a really good idea how to do that throughout this entire course. So you want to train others to become more super boss like and how they think about people and and how they think about leadership. Now if you're a sports coach or a trainer, executive coach, a religious leader, a teacher, it turns out you can take up some of the super boss practices to help the people you're helping to get better. All of that is entirely possible. It turns out that while I call it Superboss, you will see that many of the ideas are going to apply regardless of what you're doing and what your role is in an organization. In fact, if you're an individual contributor, you're not supervising anyone formally, but you're interacting with plenty of others. You can pick and choose the Superboss practices that will help you become even more effective. So consider the Superboss Playbook, a menu or a catalog, you can draw on it to do your job better and not incidentally to extend your own influence and your own impact at work. One last thing I'm going to say this, I think it's true if you're a parent, you already have your hands full and you've probably read or talked about all, lots of different ways to do the most important job you're ever going to have raising a child to be confident, to be independent, to be a good person, turns out what learned I from Superbosses. It won't change a lot of that. But while I never intended it when I set out to do my research, it turns out that many of the Superboss lessons. Not all but many can actually help each of us be a better parent. Which is really kind of remarkable, all of this kind of related to something I want to, I want to make sure that I talked about right up front and that's around around legacy. I mentioned in the last video briefly Norman Brinker who was the Superboss in the multi unit casual restaurant industry and he had all these different proteges and people that worked for him that have gone on a tremendous success in their own careers. Well you know when he died his former employees, his proteges if you will. They took out full page ads in newspapers around the country in the top half of that entire full page newspaper ad was a picture of Norman and you could see him now, he was playing polo here, but he was quite the equestrian and actually I think he was even in the US Olympic team or at least Olympic trials at some point. So he was quite a sportsman and they show that but the bottom half of the page had all of this and it's a little bit small print. So maybe you can you enlarge the screen if you want. But I'll highlight for you the central line that really grabbed me when I saw this, his protege said you did much more than build successful businesses. You've built up the people around you. I mean think about that, when we're done with our careers, whatever it happens to be, what will people say about us? How will they remember us? What influence, what impact will we have had over them? And it turns out that so much of what super boss leaders can do and do greatly enhances the potential to have that long term, that long term impact. So again, I want to remind you anyone can become a Superboss, anyone can enhance their they're Superboss leadership capabilities. And that's true, whether again, you're a senior executive, you're a middle manager, you're supervisor, you're a coach, you're a teacher, your individual contributor, every one of those types of people, you're a student even. I think it's true for everyone. So let's find out more about who they are, what they're like and especially what they do. So you can learn how to adopt the same leadership techniques and approaches that have made Superbosses so exceptional, really an industry after industry.
